These are my two favorite quotes when it comes to music. "Music doesn't lie" says so much and is so true. It doesn't matter what color you are, what your religion is, way to the left or way to the right, or somewhere in the middle, or even what style of music it is. If it's good music to you then it is good music. You can't lie about that.

"Drummers love to bang"...pretty self explanatory. You got to love the play on words. It describes me. From the age of 2 I was always banging on something. There are pictures of me playing pots and pans on the kitchen floor annoying everyone in my family. Well that continued all throughout my life. I started taking lessons when I turned 10. I remember having the option to choose what instrument in school I wanted to take up and couldn't decide between drums and sax. When I had to make my decision it just came down to loving to bang more than I liked to blow (insert witty joke). I was also lazy and didn't want to learn to read music. At the time I did not know you had to read music for drums. Just thought you had to bang!

Anyways I have been playing now for about 14 years and have played all different types of music and have been in all different types of bands. I have played musicals, have played at gospel churches, rock bands, jam bands, industrial bands, and have jammed with many more. I listen to all types of music (cliche but I really do, except country - not a fan). I am influenced by a lot of types of music as well - classic rock, hip-hop, r n b, modern rock, alternative, heavy metal, jazz and even some emo! I believe to become a better drummer and musician you really have to listen to all different types of music. There are always new things you can learn. A lot of people like to ask who my favorite drummer is and since there are hundreds of amazing drummers it's hard to say....but I guess I would have to say Buddy Rich (even though I heard he was an a$$ hole). The man is insane! I've seen a lot of drummers and he does things that I have yet to see anyone else do. After watching his videos I usually have to change my pants...
